DANKO JONES Announces First U.S. Concerts In Five Years
May 2, 2018The Canadian rock trio DANKO JONES — whose namesake front man recently appeared on VOLBEAT's #1 Active Rock hit "Black Rose" — will make its long-awaited return to the U.S. this month when the group performs headline dates in Los Angeles and San Diego. Tickets are on sale now.
Although the group has toured America extensively in the past with the likes of CLUTCH, VOLBEAT and FLOGGING MOLLY, as well as during the 2013 "Uproar Tour" alongside ALICE IN CHAINS, COHEED & CAMBRIA and JANE'S ADDICTION, DANKO JONES has spent much of the past five years aggressively touring Europe, where they are a mainstay of the festival circuit. (They will perform at another 10 such events this summer, including Copenhell, Summer Breeze and the IN FLAMES-curated Borgholm Brinner.) In recent years, they have also supported major European and Canadian tours by MOTÖRHEAD and GUNS N' ROSES and have previously opened high-profile international dates by OZZY OSBOURNE and THE ROLLING STONES.
DANKO JONES recently entered the studio to begin work on the follow-up to 2017's "Wild Cat", which earned the group its highest chart positions yet in Germany, France, Belgium and Switzerland. With their upcoming California shows, however, the band is excited to once again set its sights on the U.S.
While the group is in Los Angeles, frontman Danko Jones will appear at the city's Soap Plant Wacko/ La Luz De Jesus Gallery (4633 Hollywood Blvd.) on May 15 to celebrate the release of his first book, "I've Got Something To Say: 10 Years Of Rock And Roll Ramblings" (Feral House). The book, which features a foreword by GUNS N' ROSES bassist Duff McKagan, is an anthology of articles Jones has written for outlets ranging from European rock magazines to The Huffington Post.
Hailed by Metal Hammer as "one of the most ridiculously entertaining and exciting live bands on the planet," DANKO JONES has earned extensive praise for its visceral concert performances and attitudinal, libidinous rock. The group's best-known material includes "Had Enough", which earned the group their first gold and platinum singles in Sweden and has racked up more than 12 million Spotify streams; "Gonna Be A Fight Tonight", which WWE used as the official theme song of the 2015 Royal Rumble; "Full Of Regret", the music video for which stars Elijah Wood, Selma Blair, Mike Watt (THE MINUTEMEN) and Lemmy Kilmister; and "Lovercall", their first of six singles to crack the U.S. Active Rock Top 40.
